As an Eagle Scout, Corey has been involved in Scouting his whole life. Corey began his career in Scouting with the Sioux Council in 2002. During his time in Sioux Falls, Corey was a District Executive, Program Director and Field Director. In 2015, Corey was promoted to Assistant Scout Executive with the Jayhawk Area Council in Topeka, Kansas.

Corey has had a successful career in Scouting. Some highlights in his career are that he increased attendance for the Lewis & Clark Scout Reservation by 7%, leading record breaking popcorn sales, and membership growth while the number of youth in his area was decreasing. Corey was also instrumental in establishing Sioux Council’s Missouri River High Adventure Base in 2004.

Corey received his degree in Fisheries and Wildlife Management from Utah State University in 1999. He is a Vigil Honor member of the Order of the Arrow and a James E. West Award recipient. Corey is married to his beautiful wife Liz and has 3 kids. His daughters, Kaily and Kjarstyn, are excited to be attending Utah State this fall. His son, Nathan, will be a high school freshman in the fall.

Corey said, “We are excited to return to the great state of South Dakota and help the wonderful volunteers and staff of the Black Hills Area Council provide the best youth development program available.”
